WAYNESVILLE, Mo. —
Joplin pitcher Adam St. Peter hurled a three-hitter and the Eagles belted 12 hits to beat Waynesville 9-2 on Friday.
Joplin improved to 11-6 overall and 3-1 in the Ozark Conference with the victory.
“We hit the ball well,” Joplin coach Kirk Harryman said. “Adam pitched well, and we made all the routine plays. It was a good win for us.”
St. Peter struck out 10 batters, while walking two.
The Eagles will play Rolla at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Joe Becker Stadium.
Monett edges Carl Junction
MONETT, Mo. — The Monett Cubs mustered only one hit, but they took advantage of six Carl Junction errors to beat the Bulldogs 4-2 in a key Big 8 Conference game on Friday.
The Cubs improved to 7-7 overall and 3-1 in the Big 8, while Carl Junction dropped to 7-9 overall and 2-2 in the conference. Each team has three conference games remaining.
Monett trailed 2-1 entering the bottom of the sixth. The three-run rally started with three infield errors to load the bases with two outs. Carl Junction pitcher Tyler Armentrout then tried to pick off the runner at second base, and the ball landed in center field. Monett scored two runs on the miscue.
