Sonya Kilongkilong hit her fifth 3-pointer of the game with 30 seconds remaining, giving McAuley Catholic the lead for good Tuesday night.
The Warriors held off visiting Southwest 45-43 for an Ozark 7 Conference victory.
After Kilongkilong’s trey put the Warriors ahead by a single point, Jessica Leone hit a single free throw for the final margin.
The Warriors trailed 24-20 at halftime and 37-34 after three quarters.
“The girls just kept battling,” Warriors coach Chelsea Holmes said. “Southwest did a good job against us on defense and our girls had to adjust to that. We finally broke it open in the fourth.”
Kilongkilong led the Warriors with 21 points.
Kristie Ickes paced Southwest with 20 and Michaela Mitchell turned in 12.
The Warriors improved to 6-10 overall.
Webb City boys 71,
El Dorado Springs 52
EL DORADO SPRINGS, Mo. — A 42 point second half helped Webb City route El Dorado Springs.
The Cardinals outscored the Bulldogs 42-26 after leading 29-26 at halftime.
With the win the Cardinals move to 11-12 overall.
Austin Daniel knocked down three 3-pointers while pouring in 18 points to lead Webb City. Scott Roderique finished with 14 and Zach Gibson had 10 for the Cardinals.
Kanon Hoover netted 16 for the Bulldogs while Nick Norval and Trevor Quinlan each added 13.
The Cardinals will look to hit the .500 mark with a 6 p.m. showdown on Friday at Nixa.
Greenfield boys 67,
College Heights Christian 40
GREENFIELD, Mo. — The Wildcats jumped out to a 15-2 first-quarter advantage against College Heights Christian
Jason Anderson tallied 21 points — 10 in the third quarter — to pace Greenfield (13-7, 4-1 Spring River Valley Conference). Jordan Bryant and Arek Grisham added 13 and 12, respectively, for the Wildcats, who led 28-16 at halftime.
Matt Wicklund and Bro Mbuthia scored 11 points apiece for the Cougars, who continue league play Friday night at Miller.
Carl Junction boys 85, Lamar 58
CARL JUNCTION, Mo. — The Bulldogs inched closer to the .500 mark after thumping Lamar in a Big 8 Conference game.
Jansen Adams poured in 20 points to lead the Bulldogs (10-12, 2-2) to victory.
Jake Stevenson turned in 18 points for the Bulldogs while Jake McClarnon followed with 16.
The Bulldogs jumped to a 17-6 lead after one quarter, then extended the advantage to 42-21 by halftime.
Brian Bunton and Ross Means each finished with 17 points to lead the Tigers.
Liberal girls 55, College Heights 36
Kori Dodson, a sophomore, scored 21 points as the visiting Bulldogs beat College Heights Christian to hike their record to 14-5 overall and 4-1 in the Spring River Valley Conference.
Liberal, which led 30-19 at the half, received 11 points from Kendall Kirby.
CHC (7-13, 1-3) received 16 points from Konner McIntire and six rebounds apiece from McIntire and Laura Szczepanik. Kirsty Green handed out four assists.
Southwest boys 72, McAuley 41
WASHBURN, Mo. — It was raining 3-pointers on the McAuley boys as they were upended by Southwest in Ozark 7 Conference action.
The Trojans connected on seven 3s in the contest. Levi Roberts had three of the treys and scored a game-high 19 points.
The Trojans jumped out to a 23-10 first quarter lead and outscored the Warriors by at least six points in each quarter.
Skylar Knoll turned in 13 points for the Trojans while Matthew Whittington added 11.
Garrett Wagner paced the Warriors offense with 15.
Southwest improved to 19-2 overall and 8-0 in the conference.
Exeter girls triumph
EXETER, Mo. — The Tigers, winning their 10th game in a row, defeated Thomas Jefferson 86-26.
Exeter, which was powered by Destani Stensrud’s 26 points, improved to 17-4 overall and 7-1 in the Ozark 7 Conference.
The Cavaliers received 12 points from Sally Currence.
Cavalier boys win
EXETER, Mo. — Sophomore Alex Oserowsky scored 20 points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out four assists as Thomas Jefferson boosted its record to 15-1 overall and 6-1 in the Ozark 7.
The Cavaliers’ Taylor Barton added 18 points — sinking six treys in 11 tries — and Jordan Stauffer grabbed 12 boards and blocked four shots. Zach Powell tallied 14 points.
Exeter, which trailed 33-20 at the half, received 13 points from Brock Sorensen.
