MIAMI, Okla. —
Quapaw’s boys and girls won their semifinal matchups Friday and advanced to championship games today in the 68th annual Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Basketball Tournament.
Quapaw’s boys raced to a 30-8 halftime lead and defeated Bluejacket 51-28 led by Beau Kibel’s 16 points. The girls defeated Wyandotte 39-25 behind 21 points by Sierra Burkybile.
Ashlynn Brecheisen scored 10 points for Wyandotte, which trailed 23-12 at halftime.
Quapaw will face Foyil at 6 p.m. today in the boys’ Norse Division championship game at the Student Activity Center. In the girls’ Blue Division championship, Quapaw will play Morrisville (Mo.) at 4:30 p.m. at NEO.
Afton’s girls also advanced to the championship round by defeating Commerce 33-30. Afton will face Welch for the Norse Division championship at 4:30 p.m. at the Student Activity Center.
In the boys’ Blue Division semifinals, Tulsa Will Rogers advanced to the championship game by defeating Wyandotte 64-44. Will Rogers will face West Fork (Ark.), which knocked off Diamond 57-41, at 7:30 p.m. at the Student Activity Center. Ryan Jinks led Diamond with 12 points and Brodie Bien added 11 points.
Roland will face St. Louis Christian in the boys’ Gold Division championship game at 7:30 p.m. at NEO. Roland’s girls will play Guthrie in the Gold Division championship at 6 p.m. at NEO.
