Neosho's Geller signs with LCC

— Labette Community College softball coach Ryan Phillips believes Neosho senior Hailey Geller will become a valuable player for the Cardinals.

The right-handed batting Geller, who played left field for the Wildcats, earned Class 4 all-district honors and was all-Central Ozark Conference as a senior.

“Hailey can make an impact,” Wildcat coach Melissa Clark said. “She has a good bat and hit third in the order for us. She’s a hard worker. She’s aggressive and smart running the bases. She can play several positions. She’ll do whatever it takes to help the team.”

Said Phillips: “Hailey has the potential to become an impact player. We believe she’ll be an asset to our offense. She has good power. She can hit the ball a ton. She can move, too. She can cover some ground (in the outfield).”

Phillips noted that speedster Morgan Rathmann, who’s headed for Missouri Western, patrolled center field for the Wildcats.

Phillips said that Geller, who signed with the Parsons, Kan., junior college last week, will go through drills at first base as well as the outfield.

Geller, as a senior, averaged .387 with 13 extra-base hits among 36 safeties. She drove in 17 runs, scored 20 and swiped 13 bases.

Hailey is the daughter of Cyndi and Brian Huskey and Charla and Rick Geller.
