A mini stock special will highlight tonight’s stock car racing program at the Nevada Speedway.
Gates open at 6:30 with racing at 8 on the 1/4-mile dirt oval. Admission prices are $12 and $6. A pit pass is $30.
The top two drivers in the mini stock A feature last week were Osceole drivers J.R. Leiber and Larry Drake. Jason Agee, Bronaugh, placed third.
Bronaugh’s Kevin Morrow beat El Dorado Springs’ Lucas Dobbs in winning the USRA modified A feature.
Kansas drivers rounded out the main event winners: Prescott’s Jerry Brown (USRA B modified), Fort Scott’s Tim Phillips (factory stock) and Fort Scott’s Tiny Joles (pure stock).
Gregg Piotrowski, Galena, Kan., finished runner-up to Brown.
Ryan Gustin triumphs
GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. — Gustin, Marshalltown, Iowa, won the main event as the United States Modified Series’ Hunt for the USMTS Casey’s Cup opened Thursday night at Valley Speedway.
Gustin, defending USMTS national champion, led all 40 laps and earned $3,000.
The third leg of 17 in the Hunt, which is powered by Swan Energy, is scheduled tonight at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo. The Hunt was slated for the Humboldt (Kan.) Speedway on Friday night.
Springfield’s Terry Phillips, who started sixth, finished second on Thursday night to pocket $1,700.
It was the 60th career USMTS win for the 21-year-old Gustin.
Jason Hughes, Watts, Okla., and Jeremy Payne, Springfield, were fourth and 10th, respectively.
Chanute drivers John Allen and Paden Phillips were 19th and 22nd in the field of 26 race cars.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Dandy points races are brewing at the quarter-mile dirt track.
For example, entering tonight’s 7:30 “Pepsi Back to School Night” program, there’s a tie between Carthage’s Jackie Dalton and Webb City’s Mitch Keeter atop the USRA modified class.
Dalton, defending champion, and former champion Keeter have 1,146 apiece. Joplin’s John Yeoman is third with 1,091.
Brett Testerman, Miami, Okla., leads defending champion Jack Hamer of Ava 279-262 in the pure stock division.
Springfield’s Jim Reid and Miami’s Wayne Morris are 1-2 in the street stock class with 251 and 216, respectively.
Joplin’s Justin Comer has a 253-237 lead against Rolla’s Wayne Johnston in Legends Cars.
The Webb City Drakes — dad Scott and son Trevor — lead USRA B modified and Midwest Modz, respectively.
Nixa’s Wesley Smith, with 260, leads Sarcoxie’s Kylan Garner (235) and Joplin’s Grasyn Cox (211) in the Legends Young Lions.
