CHC girls defeat McAuley

DIAMOND, Mo. — Kirsty Green scored 21 points to lead the College Heights Christian girls past McAuley Catholic 40-30 for seventh place in the Diamond Tournament on Saturday.

The Cougars were ahead 20-10 at the half. Megan Price scored 10 for McAuley.

In other games, Purdy beat Diamond 45-26 for first place, Jasper handled Lockwood 41-35 for third and Verona nipped Sarcoxie 38-37 for fifth.

Purdy outscored Diamond 18-6 in the fourth quarter and received 17 points from Katie Hughes. Cady Littlefield and Hanna Million combined for 19 for Diamond.

 

McAuley boys win

CLEVER, Mo. — The Robertson brothers — Shaw and Adam — scored 25 and 17, respectively, as the Warriors defeated Galena 72-60 for seventh place in the Clever Tournament.

Lathan Vlasin added 11 for the Warriors (who led 41-29 at the half).

McAuley withstood a 43-point effort by the Bears’ Tyler Aschwege.

 

Pierce City tops Cavs

PIERCE CITY, Mo. — Cody Fitchpatrick led a balanced attack as the Eagles stopped Thomas Jefferson 56-34 for third place in the Pierce City Tournament.

The Eagles expanded a 27-18 advantage at the half. Kole Kelley added 14 points and Cedric O’Hara had 13.

Justin Brown and Tyler Thurman tallied 17 and 13 for Thomas Jefferson.

Crane defeated Diamond 59-56 for first place, Verona defeated Exeter 53-41 for fifth and East Newton nipped Sarcoxie 61-59 for seventh.

Crane’s Jordan Bowling was selected MVP of the tournament.
