Royals Caravan stopping in Joplin

Danny Duffy will be among the participants when the Kansas City Royals Caravan makes a stop in Joplin on Jan. 29.

Royals pitchers Duffy and Donnie Joseph, as well as Royals Hall of Fame pitcher Jeff Montgomery and broadcaster Rex Hudler are scheduled to greet fans and sign autographs from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Jan. 29 at Academy Sports and Outdoor, 1717 S. Range Line Road in Joplin.

Duffy was 2-0 with 1.85 ERA in five starts for the Royals in 2013. The lefty struck out 22 batters in 24 1/3 innings pitched.

Joseph spent most of the 2013 season at Triple-A Omaha, but the 26-year-old lefty reliever struck out seven batters in 5 2/3 innings of work with the Royals.

Montgomery was a three-time all-star, pitching with the Royals from 1988-99. The closer finished his career with 304 saves, earning a league-best 45 in 1993.

Hudler enjoyed a 13-year major league career with the New York Yankees, Baltimore, Montreal, St. Louis, the California Angels and the Philadelphia Phillies before taking up broadcasting.
