MSSU Lion Invite to have large field

The Missouri Southern men’s and women’s track and field teams will host the MSSU Lion Invite today and Saturday at the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.

The meet is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. today with the 60-meter hurdles for the women’s pentathlon. The men’s heptathlon will begin at 9:15 a.m. with the 60-meter dash. Field events, including the long jump and weight throw, will begin at 2:30 p.m. today, and preliminary running events are set for 5 p.m.

Saturday’s events will open at 9 a.m. with the conclusion of the men’s heptathlon.

Field events will start at 10:30 a.m., and running finals will begin at 3 p.m.

Other teams to compete at the MSSU Invitational include Pittsburg State, Central Missouri and Southwest Baptist.

About 1,100 athletes are expected to compete in the invitational.
