Northeastern Oklahoma A&M coach Dustin Grover announced Monday that nine players have signed letter of intent to play basketball for the Golden Norsemen.
The recruits include the son of a member of the 1988-89 NEO national championship team and the younger brother of Oklahoma City Thunder forward Serge Ibaka.
Larry Marshall (6-0 from Sapulpa, Okla.), Lionel Green (6-2 from Baltimore), Corey Baldwin (6-3 from Bridgeport, Conn.) and Christian Leach (6-3 from Washington D.C.) will be challenging for playing time in the NEO A&M backcourt.
Marshall and current NEO guard Jake Roach are the sons of former Golden Norse players Larry Heath and Tony Roach, who were members of the 1988-89 championship team.
“It’s a real thrill to have the sons of two former Golden Norsemen on the same team,” Grover said in a news release. “Not only that, but they could both be starting guards just like their fathers.”
NEO signed two forwards from the Republic of the Congo in Igor Ibaka (6-7) and Uter Moukimou.
“Both of these players are very strong around the rim,” Grover said. “They also are both very hard workers.”
Two signees at the wing position include Erikk Wright (6-5 from Chester, Pa.) and Joao de Sa (6-7 from Sao Paulo, Brazil).
The Golden Norsemen also picked up post Phillip Hrncik (6-10 from Tulsa).
