Evan Wood and Les Taylor sit atop the individual standings, and the Joplin Golf Club and Briarbrook have opened double-digit leads in the team battles as the 38thh Joplin Globe Men’s City Championship concludes today at Twin Hills Golf and Country Club.
Tee times begin at 10:30 a.m. The final groups start at 11:19 a.m. for the seniors division and 12:08 p.m. for the regular division.
Wood, who won last year’s city crown by one shot, leads the regular division with a 3-under-par 140 after a 1-over 73 at Briarbrook Golf Course and 4-under 67 at Schifferdecker Municipal Golf Course last weekend.
Andy Franklin is second at 147, followed by Andrew Maier and Bill Curry at 148 and Doug Harvey and Justin Nichols at 149.
The Joplin Golf Club tops the team battle with 740, followed by Briarbrook with 752 and Twin Hills with 768. The five lowest scores on each 10-man team are used to determine team totals.
Taylor fired two 69s last weekend for a 138 total to headline the seniors division. He takes a six-shot lead over Bob McKay and Dave Tourtelot into the final round, and Jim Weaver, Mark Riley and Terry Key share fourth place at 148.
Briarbrook has a 30-shot cushion in the team standings with 721. Twin Hills is second at 751, and Joplin Golf Club has 758.
