The Joplin Globe
The Joplin Crusaders captured the non-pro Central Football League championship by beating the Enid Enforcers 21-7 on Saturday night at Fred G. Hughes Stadium.
Joplin claimed the crown, avenging last year’s 28-21 loss to Enid in the championship game.
The game was delayed an hour from its originally scheduled 7 p.m. start after heavy rains hit Joplin on Saturday afternoon.
The Crusaders finished the season with an 11-0 record. Enid ended the season with a 6-2 record with both losses coming against Joplin. The Enforcers lost 31-28 to Joplin on April 13 after the Crusaders’ Jason Bromley made a late field goal.
Joplin advanced to this year’s CFL championship game by beating the Northern Oklahoma Ruffnecks 42-6 last week.
The Enforcers beat the Kansas Cougars 31-8 last week to return to the title game.
