The Joplin Outlaws face the division-leading Nevada Griffons in a MINK League matchup at 7 p.m. today at Joe Becker Stadium.
The Outlaws, who have won five of their last seven games, are three games behind the Griffons in the tightly bunched South Division.
The Outlaws (11-11 overall, 9-11 league) have five regulars who are batting over .300 this season, led by Koby Chadick, who is batting .333 and is tied for second in the league with 17 RBIs.
He hit a three-run home run and had four RBIs in Sunday’s 12-10 victory against North Division leader Clarinda and leads the Outlaws in hits (25) and runs scored (17).
Outfielder/designated hitter Zac Stewart is batting .333, followed by catcher Max Ayoub (.327), infielder Enrique Finol (.319) and left fielder Kyle Dickens (.306).
Infielder and leadoff batter Matt Turner, a late addition to the roster, is batting .447 in 11 games since he joined the team about two weeks ago.
Nevada’s offense is led by Michael Sterling (.340), Tanner Glore (.328) and Michael Douglas (.283). Glore leads the Griffons with 22 hits and 15 runs scored.
The Griffons’ top two starting pitchers are Sam Hilliard (3-0, 1.90 ERA) and Trent Keefer (2-0, 2.33 ERA). Keefer is third in the league with 21 strikeouts.
Outlaws starting pitcher Matt Hasenbeck (3-0) is tied for the league lead in victories. Closer Andrew Schwaab (1-0) has three saves.
