Morrisville edges McAuley in tourney

CLEVER, Mo. — Josh Devine scored 18 points to pace Morrisville past McAuley Catholic 49-44 Thursday night in a consolation bracket game fo the Clever Tournament.

Shaw Robertson topped the Warriors with 12 points, followed by Adam Robertson with 11 and Cole Lowry with 10. McAuley trailed 22-18 at halftime and 30-28 after three periods.

The Warriors play Galena in the seventh-place game at 1 p.m. Saturday. Hurley nipped Galena 63-62 in Thursday’s other game.

Tonight’s semifinal pit Clever vs. Purdy at 6 and Hartville vs. Sparta at 7:30.


Pierce City Tournament

PIERCE CITY, Mo. — No. 1-seeded Diamond led 45-15 at the half in beating fourth-seeded Thomas Jefferson 67-28 in the semifinal round.

Third-seeded Crane hurdled second-seeded Pierce City 79-49 in the second semifinal.

Ryan Jinks, Brodie Bien and Logan Myers scored in double figures for Diamond with 18, 17 and 12, respectively.

Tyler Thurman, who had four treys, tallied 16 for the Cavaliers.

Crane, which led 44-24 at intermission, received 19 points from Zach Chastain and 17 from Jordan Bowling. Kole Kelley and Cody Fitchpatrick combined for 25 points for the Eagles.

Tonight’s consolation games are Exeter vs. Sarcoxie at 6 and East Newton vs. Verona at 7:30.
