FORT SCOTT, Kan. —
Cottey College, ranked No. 19 in this week’s NJCAA Division II women’s basketball poll, hiked its record to 8-0 with a 71-54 victory over Fort Scott Community College on Thursday night at Arnold Arena.
Blakelee Sanders poured in 27 points to pace the Comets, hitting 8-of-18 field goals, 1-of-2 3-point attempts and 10-of-12 free throws. She scored 15 points in the first half as the Comets owned a 31-18 halftime advantage.
Sanders also grabbed nine rebounds as the Comets owned a 40-33 advantage on the boards.
Dayna Turnbull collected 13 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals for Cottey, and Petra Stankovic chipped in with 10 points.
Malori Gales and Erika McKenzie scored 11 points apiece for the Greyhounds. McKenzie also dished out five assists, and Burgandie Lewis had 13 rebounds.
