Carl Junction’s Andrew Felker is bidding for a repeat points championship in the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series.
Felker finished sixth in the main event on Friday night during the Belle-ville (Ill.) Bash at Belle-Clair Speedway.
Darren Hagen, Riverside, Calif., led 29 of 30 laps in beating Chris Bell of Norman (Okla.).
Felker was leading the points through July 1 with 1,450. Zach Daum, Pocahontas (Ill.), and Tyler Thomas, Collinsville, Okla., were 2-3 with 1,120 and 960, respectively.
Felker won the A feature on June 8 at Macon (Ill.) Speedway by beating Daniel Adler of East Carondelet (Ill.) by a car length. Felker placed second in the third of seven heat races at the one-fifth mile dirt track.
The second half of the Belleville Bash was scheduled Saturday night.
Felker, 20, won four A features in 2012 in defeating Brett Anderson, Belleville, for the crown by 100 points.
Jesse Stovall triumphs
COLCORD, Okla. — Stovall, Billings, Mo., defending champion in the late model MARS DIRTcar Series, made up a little ground on Lebanon’s streaking Tony Jackson Jr. by taking the main event at West Siloam Speedway on Friday night.
Stovall, winning for the 13th time on the circuit, pocketed $2,000 by besting Tommy Weder Jr., Woodward, Okla., and Brantlee Gotschall, Nevada.
Jackson, who placed sixth, led Stovall 789-751 entering Saturday night’s program at West Siloam.
Terry Phillips, Springfield, finished eighth and was third in points with 695.
Heat winners were Gotschall, Republic’s Brad Looney and Stovall. Dustin Walker, Peculiar, won the B feature and finished 13th in the main.
Jon Driskill, Belle Vista, Ark., and Steve Johnson, Joplin, were 15th and 19th in the A feature. Driskill is a former Joplin resident.
