BENTONVILLE, Ark. —
Missouri Southern scored six runs in the seventh inning and defeated Illinois-Springfield 12-3 on Saturday in the Seven State Classic.
Shelby Romines was 2-for-4 with a double and a home run and drove in five runs. Winning pitcher Haley Pypes allowed four hits and six walks. She struck out seven and was 1-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs.
The Lions dropped a 4-1 decision to Rockhurst in the second game. Lions pitcher Sarah Williams tossed a complete game and allowed seven hits and three walks.
Williams was 2-for-3 at the plate, and third baseman Brooklyn Farrell drove in the Lions’ only run.
The Lions (6-2) conclude tournament play today with Ouachita Baptist at 11 a.m. and Southern Nazarene at 1 p.m.
