WARRENSBURG, Mo. — Central Missouri completed a four-game sweep of its weekend series against Missouri Southern 2-1 and 8-4 in an MIAA doubleheader Saturday at Crane Stadium.

Senior right-hander Kurtis Schuyler (2-2) limited the Lions to three hits in five innings in the first game. Zach Davis, who pitched the final two innings, picked up his fourth save.

The Mules (18-9 overall, 15-5 MIAA) took a 1-0 lead on center fielder Brad Wilson’s RBI single in the first inning, then added a run in the second on an RBI double down the left-field line by second baseman Dusty Maas.

MSSU’s Beau Phillips scored in the fifth inning when Evin Natick reached base on an error.

Mules third baseman and cleanup hitter Tony Sandifer, who singled twice, was the only player on either team who had more than one hit.

The Lions (14-12, 9-11) will face Southwest Baptist at 6 p.m. Friday at Joe Becker Stadium in the first game of a four-game MIAA series.

In the second game, UCM scored six runs in the second inning, highlighted by Jake Alexander’s three-run double with two outs.
