Slade Stiles of Nevada pinned Chase Brennan of Monett and won the 120-pound division Saturday at the Monett Tournament.
Stiles (23-1), a senior and three-time Class 2 state medalist, pinned Brennan in 59 seconds. Brennan (18-3) placed third at 106 in the Class 2 MSHSAA Championships last year while Stiles was third at 113. Brennan, a junior, was state champion at 103 pounds as a freshman.
Nevada’s Sam Ellifrets won the championship at 285 pounds and Dayton Miller was runner-up at 106.
Monett’s Sean Jastal, a freshman, won the title at 113 pounds while teammate Devon Overall was third at 195.
Josh Kinser at 132 and Jordan Moffett at 220 won individual titles for McDonald County. The Mustangs’ Trevor Young at 126, Jacob Dalton at 138 and Christopher Dalton at 145 placed third.
Willard won the team championship, followed by Clinton and Reeds Spring. McDonald County was fifth, Monett was sixth and Nevada was eighth.
Butler Invitational
Diamond was sixth in the team standings at the Butler Invitational Tournament, which was won by Lathrop. Rogers was second and Holden was third.
Diamond’s Zack Renfro was runner-up at 195. Ethan King at 106 and Jordan Douglas at 145 each placed third while Wyatt Rook at 152 and Colton Renfro at 182 were fourth.
