MILLER, Mo. —
Senior quarterback Dalton Gulick directed Miller past McAuley Catholic 34-12 on Monday night in a nonconference prep football game.
Miller, ranked fifth last week in Class 1, scored 14 points in the fourth period to expand a 20-12 advantage after three quarters.
The Cardinals improved to 3-0 and dropped McAuley to 1-2.
Said Miller coach Dustin Baldwin: “This is a good win. They (the Warriors) are explosive on offense with good skill position people.
“For the most part I think we did a good job defending the pass,” Baldwin said.
Gulick rushed for 150 yards and completed seven of 16 passes for 128 yards. Derrick Estell, another senior, supported Gulick with nine carries for 11 yards.
Miller statistics had it with a 488-324 yardage advantage.
The Warriors’ Mitch Wear completed 23 of 47 passes for 222 yards. He found fellow seniors Greg Carney and Shaw Robertson for scoring passes covering 57 and 9 yards, respectively. Miller intercepted three passes.
Gulick, meanwhile, tallied on runs of 15 and 14 yards and hit Colton Sullivan (12 yards) and Brenden Richardson (22) for touchdowns. Richardson also scored on a 15-yard run and Jordan Jack kicked four extra points.
The game had been postponed on Friday night because of inclement weather.
