Sagely, Crowder thump Three Rivers

NEOSHO, Mo. — The Crowder College women’s basketball team, especially Sarah Sagely, turned in a special performance for former players on Saturday for its “Alumni Day” visitors in Bob Sneller Gymnasium.

Crowder trimmed Three Rivers of Poplar Bluff 104-67 and Sagely, a 5-foot-7 freshman from West Fork, Ark., scored 31 points.

Crowder improved to 17-7 overall and 4-3 against NJCAA Region XVI opponents entering Wednesday’s 6 p.m. home game against Moberly.

Crowder coach Tina Robbins said the 104 and 31 were single-game bests this season for the Lady ’Riders.

Sagely, who had five treys, was backed by Caprese Marshall’s 16 points, Taylor Murphy’s 13 and Terai Sadler’s 10. Murphy and Sadler combined for 13 rebounds, Hannah Ritter and Jordan Hunter each had six assists and Sadler and Hunter combined for seven steals. Chloe Nichols had three treys.

Three Rivers (9-15, 2-6), which trailed 47-27 at the half, received 18 points from Whitney Mills, 16 from Candace Miller and 12 from Monae Riley.

Crowder, which shot 52 percent overall from the field, scored the first 13 points of the second half.

Crowder was without two players, Robbins said. Kayla Thaman was sidelined with a shoulder injury and Caitlin Miller missed the contest because of a death in the family.
