Crowder missed three trey attempts to tie in the closing seconds as Seminole (Okla.) State clipped the Lady ’Riders 69-66 in a junior college basketball game on Tuesday night.
The Belles (3-0) led Crowder (2-1) 36-34 at the half in Bob Sneller Gymnasium.
The final miss came at the buzzer, Crowder coach Tina Robbins said.
“We gave up too many second-chance points,” Robbins said. “We also were in foul trouble in the first half.”
Robbins said she was pleased with only 11 turnovers by her team and the intensity of her players.
Crowder received 17 points and 10 rebounds from Terai Sadler, 17 points from Sarah Sagely, three assists from Sadler, Megan Ritter and Camila Lacerda and two steals from Lacerda.
Crowder faces Connors State of Warner, Okla., at 5:30 p.m. on Friday in the North Arkansas Classic at Harrison.
Southwestern 92, OCC 72
WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern jumped out to a 54-30 halftime lead Monday night and defeated Ozark Christian in a men’s game.
Four Southwestern players scored in double figures, led by Taylor Johnson, who sank five of nine 3-point attempts and had 15 points.
Kyle Wicklund led Ozark Christian with 23 points, including 11 of 15 from the free-throw line. Wicklund and Brandon Rogers each had 10 rebounds.
Zac Hill added 15 points for OCC, Kendall Wingert scored 12 and Rogers had 11.
Lions fall to Lindenwood
Missouri Southern dropped a straight-set match to Lindenwood at Young Gymnasium, falling 25-18, 25-16, 25-21.
The Lions (0-29, 0-17 MIAA) got eight kills from Katie Politte, six from Callie Whetstone and five from Aleisha Joyce. Abby Finde had a team-high 13 assists while Sydney Potts added 12 assists and Danielle Severns had 12 digs.
Lindenwood (15-15, 5-11) got eight kills each from Kelsey Kennedy and katie Weber.
Southern wraps up the regular season on Saturday with a home match against Pittsburg State at 7 p.m. in the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center in a Sonic Trophy Series contest.
