Missouri Southern finalizes 2012 football schedule

Missouri Southern will open its 2012 football season against two of the MIAA’s four newcomers and will play six of its 11 games at home, highlighted by homecoming against South Dakota Mines, the John Ware Memorial Classic against Truman State and a regular season-ending clash with defending national champion Pittsburg State in the Sonic Miner’s Bowl.

MSSU released its schedule on Monday, complete with game times.

The Lions open the season at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 30 at Central Oklahoma. It will be the MIAA debut for the Edmond-based Bronchos.

Another league newcomer, Northeastern State, visits Joplin on Sept. 8 for MSSU’s home opener at 6 p.m.

After a trip to Lincoln the Lions return home to face Southwest Baptist for their Hall of Fame Game on Sept. 22. A trip to Central Missouri precedes MSSU’s Oct. 6 homecoming game at 2 p.m. against South Dakota Mines — an NCAA Division II independent

Road games at Missouri Western and MIAA newbie Lindenwood sandwich an Oct. 20 home game against perennial league power Northwest Missouri.

The Lions then end the regular season with back-to-back home games, a Nov. 3 matchup with Truman State at 3 p.m. and a Nov. 10 date with Pittsburg State at 2 p.m.

Missouri Southern is coming off a 3-7 season and will be led by first-year head coach Daryl Daye.

If the governor signs new legislation, a nonprofit could print it and distribute it to the public. Would you buy one?
