Jordan Holloway won his second main event in a row on the late model Race Brothers Show-Me Racin’ Series on Sunday night at the Monett Speedway.
Holloway, Monett, beat Aurora drivers Shane Essary and Jim Fulp.
Holloway’s first career victory on the tour came at the Nevada Speedway.
Points leader Leslie Essary, Crane, and Kevin Patrick, Gentry, Ark., were fourth and fifth, respectively, in the main event. The series attracted 32 race cars.
Joplin drivers Chuck Comer, Dairan Hendrix, Shannon Phillips and Jeff Johnson were 13th, 16th, 17th and 20th, respectively. Phillips and Comer won B features to make the 22-car field.
A flat tire hampered Phillips’ effort.
Holloway, 23, is in his seventh year of racing with previous experience in bomber and factory stock classes. He’s won some 40 features and factory stock points championships at Bolivar Speedway and Lebanon I-44 Speedway.
Fulp won the second heat and dash for cash on the 3/8-mile dirt track at Monett.
Leslie Essary has 714 points for the season with his dad, series founder Ken Essary, Cape Fair, in second place with 630.
Shane Essary is third with 622. Completing the top five are Conner Ward of Wichita (614) and Don Cloyd of Fair Grove (592).
Rounding out the top 10 are Fulp (591), Burl Woods of Republic (589), Rick Lebow of Galena, Mo. (584), Holloway (572) and Kevin Henson of Marionville (513).
Springfield’s Christopher Morelock is the rookie points leader with 506, Jimmy Bellamy, Crane, and Jeff Johnson, Joplin, follow with 440 and 313, respectively.
Larry Phillips wins
Phillips, Springfield, won the main event during the O’Reilly Midwest Late Model Racing Association’s Firecracker 40 at 24 Raceway in Moberly on Sunday night.
Phillips, who started inside on the second row after winning his heat, took the lead for good on lap 8.
Denny Woodworth, Mendon, Ill., earned the pole but was forced to call it quits after just two laps because of his race car’s mechanical problems.
Points leader David Turner, Adrian, finished fifth in the A feature,
Jeremy Payne, Springfield, and Brantlee Gotschall, Nevada, finished 14th and 18th, respectively.
The MLRA resumes Friday night at Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Mo., on Friday night. The MLRA will compete with the Lucas Oil Late Model Series on Saturday night at the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo.
