Nebraska-Omaha, making few mistakes at the net, downed Missouri Southern 3-1 (25-17, 30-28, 18-25, 25-18) Wednesday night in an MIAA volleyball match at Robert Ellis Young Gymnasium.
The Lions (6-17, 1-10 MIAA) had more kills (66-54), assists (60-48) and digs (66-54) than the Mavericks, but UNO made only nine attack errors compared to 34 for the Lions. The Mavericks had a .328 team hitting percentage, the Lions .198.
Ashley Hill led the Lions with 19 kills and 18 digs, and Jeanna Feldman and Brittany Vavao-Huggins contributed 13 and 10 kills, respectively. Vavao-Huggins had 10 kills in 12 attempts with zero errors, an .833 hitting percentage.
Elin Skei had 43 assists for the Lions, Kari Hammerbacher had 17 digs, and Ashlee Russell assisted on three blocks.
Sara Kampschnieder had 16 kills and Ellen Thommes 12 for the Mavericks (10-12, 6-5). Kampschnieder also had 17 digs, and Thommes had nine block assists.
The Lions have another conference match at 7 p.m. Friday at Central Missouri.
