PITTSBURG, Kan. — Quincy Owens, a forward at Hill College in Cleburne, Texas, has signed to play basketball for the Pittsburg State men’s team beginning in the 2009-10 season.
Owens, a 6-foot-8, 235-pound sophomore, averaged 11 points and eight rebounds last season for Hill. He’s averaging 13 points and 11 rebounds in six games this year.
He was a two-time all-state player at Eddison High School in Milwaukee, averaging 18 points and 11 rebounds as a senior.
“Quincy is a big, strong inside player,” Pittsburg State coach Gene Iba said. “He rebounds well, defends well and shoots the ball well out to the 15- to 18-foot range. We think he’ll be an impact player next year.”
