OCC drops pair at national meet

BETHANY, Okla. — Ozark Christian College teams dropped a pair of games Saturday in the ACCA National Tournament.

Grace Bible tripped the Ambassadors 59-50 in the women’s sixth-place game.

Free Will Baptist downed the Ozark Christian men 88-69 in consolation-round action. The Ambassadors face Prividence College, from Canada, today for seventh place.

In the women’s game, OCC built a 31-20 halftime lead, then could hit only 7 of 40 second-half shots.

Jordan Schroeder and Kala Brust scored 14 points each for Ozark Christian (16-19), which had shot 42 percent in the first half. The Ambassadors held a 56-40 rebounding advantage with Brust grabbing 12 and Schroeder and Lacy Bounds getting 10 each.

Steven Tackett, with 14 points, was the lone double-figure scorer for OCC (9-27). Jacob Seaton had nine points.

The Ambassadors held a 40-36 rebounding advantage with Michael Stephens and Kerry Frazier grabbing six each. Tackett had a team-high four assists.

Marcus Moore scored 24 points for Free Will Baptist and Brandon Wade had 21 more. The Flames shot 47 percent from the field, hit 9 of 17 3-pointers and added 17 of 19 from the foul line.
