Southern golfers
go into 3rd place
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Missouri Southern men’s golf team slid into third place after two rounds of the MIAA Men’s Golf Tournament on Monday at Shoal Creek Golf Club in Kansas City.
The Lions shot a combined 619 through the first two rounds to trail Washburn (585) and Central Missouri (602), respectively. Southwest Baptist sits in a tie for fourth place with Truman State with a score of 622. Pittsburg State is fifth with 632, Missouri Western sixth with 633 and Fort Hays State in seventh with 649.
For the Lions David Eddy shot a 150; Andy Hogenmiller, 154; Stephen Boyd, 157; Seve Smith, 160; and Jamie Voegeli, 160.
For the Gorillas Bren Fisher scored a 153; Shane Collins, 158; Eammon Kruisch, 159; Kyle Capps, 162; and Keith Capps, 169.

fall to UMSL
The Missouri Southern Lions tennis squad dropped an 8-1 non-conference bout against Missouri-St. Louis on Monday at MSSU.
The only Lions victory came in No. 1 singles as Kati Andersen dropped Pujitha Bandi, 6-3, 6-2. The final eight victories came for UMSL as Stephanie Thompson defeated MSSU’s Lauren Skimbo, 6-2, 6-2 in No. 2 singles. In No. 3 action Altanzul Gombo dropped Alex Lewis, 6-3, 6-3; No. 4 Leticia Garcia thumped Becca Sterling, 6-1, 6-1; No. 5 Adriana Garcia handled Brianna Tunnell, 6-1, 6-3; No. 6 Stacy Goodman whipped Audry Buckland, 6-1, 6-0.
UMSL easily handled the doubles competition as well. In No. 1 action Bandi-Thompson dropped Anderson-Lewis, 8-3; No. 2 Garcia-Gombo whipped Skimbo-Sterling, 8-2; No. 3 Katie Feldman-Katie Rynkiewich defeated Tunnell-Buckland, 8-1.
