The Briarbrook Invitational men’s golf tournament, scheduled to begin on Friday, has been postponed and likely will be rescheduled this fall.
“If things go as planned, we’ll reschedule it in the fall,” club spokesman Rick Utter said Wednesday afternoon. “We’re going to have it, we just don’t know when.”
Utter joins Dave Englert, Randy Brownlow, Dan Hartley and Gary Green on a five-man committee that is overseeing operations at the golf course.
“We wouldn’t have had a problem with the golf,” Utter said, “but the problem was the social functions. The restaurant is not functional. The air conditioning is not working in the facility.
“Our No. 1 priority is getting stability with the course where everything is functional and running, then we’ll worry about tournaments. We would rather not put on a tournament than put one on that was not quality.”
