PITTSBURG, Kan. —
Pittsburg State president Dr. Steve Scott has been appointed the Region 3 representative on the NCAA Division II Presidents Council, which is the governing body responsible for establishing and directing the general policy for Division II athletics.
Scott begins his service immediately and will serve out the remainder of 2012 before beginning a full, four-year term. It’s the first time a PSU president has been selected to the council.
“I have a great deal of respect and admiration for the individuals who are serving on the council, and am looking forward to working alongside them in support of the ideas and initiatives of Division II,” Scott said in a press release.
“I’ve come to believe that much of Pittsburg State’s success is directly connected to our embracing the Division II experience for our student-athletes and its focus on academics, community engagement and excellence.”
Pittsburg State has produced more academic All-Americans in the 1990s and the 2000s than any other NCAA Division II school.
