Webb City swimmers win Tri-State Conference crown

For the first time, Webb City’s summer swim team captured first place in the Tri-State Conference A Championships.

Webb City accumulated 400.5 points to top the 11-team field, and Siloam Springs was second with 305.5. Webb City completed its sixth year of summer competition and finished second in the conference meet last year.

Webb City collected 16 gold medals, 24 silver and 18 bronze in the conference meet. Two Webb City swimmers won high-point trophy awards in their age division — Sydney Hackwell in 13-14 girls and Liam Holt in 15-18 boys.

In addition, the team broke several conference records, including Holt in the 200-yard freestyle, 200 individual medley and 50 breaststroke; the 15-18 boys 200 medley relay team of Jacob Schultz, Nathan Schultz, Holt and Nick Adolphsen and the 15-18 girls 200 free relay team of Mercy Housh, Genny Richards, Erica Logel and Madi Wood.

There were 119 members on the summer team, coached by Kurt Housh and Mallory Fuller.

“We had an awesome year, with a lot of returning swimmers and a great group of new swimmers,” Coach Housh said in a release. “We started off the season with a big win at our home meet and ended with a big win at the championship meet. I am proud of how well the team did this season.”
