LAMAR, Mo. —
Lamar won all four relays and claimed the team championship Monday at the boys’ Class 2, District 5 track and field meet.
Lamar won the team title with 186 points. Sarcoxie was second with 90 points and Pierce City was third with 78.5.
Cade Payne won the 100 meters and was second in the 200. Lamar took the top three places in the discus with Sam Bailey, Ben Bailey and Austin Boice. Boice won the shot put.
Ryan Beaver of College Heights won the 800 and 1600. Drew Buckner of Lamar was second in both events.
Other sectional qualifiers for Lamar on the track were Jerod Beshore in the 100, Josh Garfield in the 400, Zachary Ray in the 800 and Kaden Overstreet and Zane Hull in the 3200.
In the field events, Lamar’s Landon Compton advanced to the sectional in the triple jump and high jump along with Mark Bartlett in the long jump.
In the girls’ division, Lamar was fourth as a team and placed second in the 4x100 and 4x200 relays with a team of Madi Baldwin, Kaelyn Sturgell, Kylie Regal and Chynna Moore.
Sturgell advanced in the 300 hurdles and the 200, along with Moore in the triple jump, Grace Compton in the 400, Kaitlyn Graves in the discus and Katelyn Luce in the pole vault.
Lamar was fourth in the 4x800 relay with a team of Erin O’Sullivan, Josie Kaderly, Ryan O’Sullivan and Sarah Davis.
