Pittsburg girls take team title

PITTSBURG, Kan. — Christian Repsher of Carl Junction won the pole vault Friday at the Jock’s Nitch/PSU Gorilla Relays.

Repsher, a senior, won with a heighth of 14 feet. Jake Jungmann of Liberal was second at 13-6, Matt Jeffries of Grove was third and Christian Pittman of Carl Junction was fourth.

Matt Magee of Carl Junction won the 200 meters in 22.66 seconds, Carl Junction was second in the 4x100 and 4x200 relays, and Chase Johnston was third in the shot put.

Kiante Hardin of Webb City won the long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 11 inches and won the 400 in 50.08 seconds. Webb City’s Nate Deadmond won the 110 hurdles, and the Cardinals won the 4x200 relay.

Carthage’s Kennan Harrison won the long jump and Cameron Priester won the 100. Ben Southwick won the 800, and E.J. Morgan was second in the triple jump and fourth in the long jump.

Lee’s Summit North won the boys’ division. Carthage was third and Webb City was fourth.

Isaac Jimenez of Grove won the discus, and Grove was second in the 4x800 relay. Connor Underwood of McDonald County won the 1600, Ryan Rakestraw of Southeast was second in the 300 hurdles and Tye Burton of Mount Vernon was second in the long jump.

Pittsburg won the girls’ team championship. Chelsea Baker of Pittsburg won the triple jump, was second in the pole vault, third in the 100 hurdles and fourth in the long jump.

Taylor Muff of Pittsburg won the 100 and 300 hurdles, and Pittsburg won the 4x100 and 4x400 relays. Katie Phalen of Pittsburg was second in the javelin and Laura Yancey of Southeast was third.

Desirea Buerge of Webb City won the discus and was second in the shot put. Teammate Sammi White was second in the 100 hurdles.

Courtni Smith of McDonald County was second in the triple jump and third in the long jump. Teammate Nicole Ickes was third in the 100.

Grove’s Emilee Iverson broke the meet record in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 8 inches. Lily Jeffries of Grove was third in the pole vault with a jump of 9 feet, and Michaela Werner won the 3,200 and was second in the 1,600.

Sierra Barrett of Carthage was fourth in the triple jump and fifth in the long jump.

Carl Junction was second in the 4x800 relay.
