KANSAS CITY, Mo. —
Top-seeded Fort Hays State pulled away in the final seven minutes and defeated Missouri Southern 79-60 Thursday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the men’s MIAA Postseason Tournament at Municipal Auditorium.
The Lions trailed 62-58 after Jordan Talbert’s 3-point goal and Cameron Cornelius’ layup with 7:02 remaining, but they didn’t score again until R.J. Leverette hit a shot in the lane with 58 seconds left. In between, the Tigers ran off 14 points.
Marquis Addison led the Lions with 13 points – all in the first half. Jordan Talbert had 11 points, eight rebounds and seven blocked shots, and R.J. Leverette scored 10 and had five assists.
The Lions finish with a 13-15 season record.
