Arkansas Baptist sweeps OCC

Arkansas Baptist, featuring pitching in the first game and offense in the second contest, swept Ozark Christian in college baseball on Thursday at the Joplin Athletic Complex.

Seth Tomboli, a freshman, bested junior David Conrad 2-1 in a clash of right-handers in the opener. The Buffaloes won the second game 23-5 in five innings.

Tomboli allowed two hits and struck out six. Conrad, who was reached for four hits, yielded two runs in the top of the sixth that erased a 1-0 deficit.

Second baseman Jake Harbaugh singled and center fielder Daniel Rankin doubled for the OCC hits in the first game.

First baseman George Bain had four of the Buffaloes’ 14 hits in Game 2.

Rankin, who was playing left field, had a two-run double in the third for the Ambassadors.

OCC, 1-4, resumes with a 2 p.m. doubleheader today at Dallas Christian.
