Prep roundup: Glendale downs Joplin girls, 55-32

— Kim Deines scored 25 points as Glendale defeated Joplin 55-32 in an Ozark Conference game Monday night at Young Gymnasium.

Katie Sticklen made two 3-pointers and led Joplin with nine points. Bailey Taylor added eight points for the Eagles.

Joplin will play at 6 p.m. Thursday at West Plains.

EAST NEWTON GIRLS 57, CARL JUNCTION 53

CARL JUNCTION, Mo. — Koty Cooper scored 18 points as East Newton held off Carl Junction’s comeback attempt and defeated the Bulldogs.

Lindey Broyles added 13 points as East Newton handed Carl Junction its second conference loss. East Newton led 43-34 going into the fourth quarter.

Bryce Boyd sank six 3-pointers and led Carl Junction with 27 points.

Carl Junction will face Cassville at 6 p.m. today at Carl Junction.

JASPER GIRLS 57, COLLEGE HEIGHTS 30

Lexie Royster scored 21 points to lead Jasper past College Heights in Joplin. The Cougars were held to just seven points combined in the second and fourth quarters in the loss — five in the second and two in the fourth.

College Heights was led by Bri Shores’ nine points, followed by Brogan Ward with six. The Cougars return to action Friday when they travel to Sarcoxie for a 6 p.m. start.
