Missouri Southern football signs 11

The Missouri Southern football team’s 2013 recruiting class keeps growing.

Lions coach Daryl Daye announced the signing of 11 more players Wednesday, joining 30 others who have been acquired since national signing day in February.

The new additions consist of four defensive backs, three running backs, two wide receivers, a linebacker and a kicker.

Ronald Pierre, a 6-2, 235-pound linebacker from Orlando, Fla., was a two-star recruit on Rivals.com in 2012. According to Rivals, he had scholarship offers from New Mexico State and San Jose State. Pierre transfers from Golden West College, where he recorded 63 tackles, three sacks and two forced fumbles as a sophomore in 2011.

Missouri Southern’s three running back signings are all college transfers.

Drew Phillips, a 6-0, 185-pound running back from College of the Canyons, will be a sophomore in eligibility after rushing for 365 yards and two touchdowns on 77 carries as a freshman.

Terrance Allen, a 5-10, 190-pound running back from Butler Community College, earned all-conference honors for the Grizzlies. Before that, he was an all-state running back at Junction City (Kan.) High School.

Chris Barnwell, a 6-1, 215-pound running back from Allan Hancock College, received all-league honors this past season after rushing for 494 yards and four touchdowns. He was a two-time all-state pick at Savannah (Ga.) Christian High School, rushing for 1,706 yards and 20 touchdowns his senior year.

The Lions added three college transfers and one high school recruit to the secondary.

Stevin Gomez, a 6-2, 193-pound cornerback from Foothill Community College, was an all-conference selection last season.

Darien Anderson, a 6-1, 190-pound cornerback from College of the Sequoias, was a team captain and finished last season with 70 tackles and four interceptions.

Josh Brown, a 6-1, 188-pound cornerback from Erie Community College, joins the Lions after earning all-region and all-conference honors as a sophomore. He picked off eight passes.

Khiry Crawford (6-1, 190) comes to Missouri Southern after earning all-league and all-city honors at Highland Park High School in Topeka. He tallied 61 tackles, three sacks and an interception returned for a touchdown.

Transfer Josh Jones (6-2, 195) and high school recruit Dionne Collier (6-3, 215) join Missouri Southern’s receiving corps. Jones was a two-year starter at Citrus Community College. Collier helped St. Thomas Aquinas High School win the Florida 7A state championship as a senior. He also is a decorated track and field athlete, helping his 4x100 relay team win a state title as a junior.

Kicker Sean Seefeldt transfers from Division II’s Edinboro University, where he played 11 games as a true freshman in 2012. He made 4 of 11 field goal attempts with a long of 42 yards.
