As part of its Super Bowl coverage, ESPN is in Topeka, Kan., this weekend.
Two former Washburn players will play in Sunday’s game in New Orleans — defensive back Cary Williams of the Baltimore Ravens and linebacker Michael Wilhoite of the San Francisco 49ers.
On ESPN’s SportsCenter at 7 a.m. Sunday, reporter Pedro Gomez is scheduled to talk with Washburn football coach Craig Schurig at the Ichabods’ Yager Stadium. ESPN is also expected to tape action from the Washburn-Pittsburg State basketball games tonight.
No college has more than two players in the Super Bowl. Washburn has the same number of players as Alabama and more players than the likes of Notre Dame, Florida State and Texas A&M.
