DURANT, Okla. —
The Missouri Southern softball team split a pair of games on Saturday at the Southeastern Regional Invitational in Durant, Okla.
The Lions (3-1) fell 4-3 to the Drury Panthers before beating Northeastern State 4-2 in eight innings.
Against Drury, Missouri Southern took a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth. The Panthers responded with a two-run bottom of the fifth when Betsey Toalson hit a two-RBI single. Drury added another run in the sixth to take a 4-2 lead.
The Lions could muster only one run in the top of the seventh.
Monica Villarreal earned the win for Drury. Missouri Southern’s Sarah Williams recorded the loss, allowing seven hits and four runs in six innings.
Shelby Romines and Alana Hester led the Lions at the plate. Romines was 2-for-3 with a double, triple and a walk and two RBI. Hester was 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs.
