Four local swimmers headed to national championships

Four Joplin-area swimmers will compete in the National Club Swimming Association Spring Championships on Tuesday through Saturday at the Orlando (Fla.) YMCA Aquatic Center.

The meet is sanctioned by USA Swimming and Florida Swimming.

Competing in the 400 medley relay for ages 15 through 18 will be Chris Martucci, of Joplin; Jacob Schultz and Nathan Schultz, of Webb City; and Liam Holt, of Carl Junction. They will compete as the Jasper County Killer Whales.

Jacob Schultz in the breaststroke, Holt in the backstroke, Martucci in the butterfly and Nathan Schultz in the freestyle swam a national qualifying time of 3 minutes, 34.47 seconds in the NCSA sectional meet last weekend at Jenks, Okla.

The swimmers also will compete in the 200 medley relay at the national meet. Holt will swim in four individual events.
