MSSU soccer signs eight for 2014 campaign

Two players from Carl Junction will join Lions

The Missouri Southern Lions women’s soccer team recently signed eight players for the 2014 season, including two athletes from Carl Junction High School.

MSSU’s signing class includes Carl Junction’s Taylor Beck and Anissa Williams; Lee’s Summit North’s Hannah Bomar; Lee’s Summit’s Aubrie Hirsch and Jacqueline Sampson; Charles Page’s (Okla.) Brooke Ishmael; Hanna Johnson, of Cleburne, Texas; and Bryar Wiley, of Ballwin, Mo.

Beck, a 5-foot-4 midfielder, was a three-year letterwinner for the Bulldogs. She earned all-district, all-region and all-state honors. Williams, a 5-4 forward, earned three letters at Carl Junction. She was named the offensive player of the year for the team and the district.

Bomar, a 5-6 forward from Lake Lotawana, Mo., was an all-district performer for Lee’s Summit North and helped the Bronchos reach the state finals as a sophomore. Hirsch, a 5-3 forward, was a four-year letterwinner at Lee’s Summit and a member of the Sporting Blue Valley NPL soccer club team for three years. Sampson, a 5-3 midfielder, was a three-year letterwinner at Lee’s Summit and played for the Sporting Blue Valley Chiefs club team for four years.

Brooke Ishmael, a 5-4 defender from Sand Springs, Okla., was the defensive MVP at Charles Page High School. Johnson, a 5-6 goalkeeper , was an all-district and all-county performer at Cleburne High School. Wiley, a 5-6 forward, was a three-year letterwinner and all-section honoree in Scottsdale, Ariz., before recently moving to Ballwin.
