From staff reports
First came a change in location, and then came a change on the card.
The end result is a boxing card on Friday night inside the Peoria Showplace at Buffalo Run Casino and Resort in Miami, Okla.
Tavoris Cloud and Jean Pascal were scheduled to fight Saturday night in Chicago on Showtime, but Pascal suffered a hand injury during training.
Donovan George and Adonis Stevenson, two super middleweights with a combined 40-3-1 record, were the co-main event on the card, but plans to make that bout the main event fell through.
In another corner, ESPN was looking for a main event for its Friday Night Fights after Mauricio Herrera was hurt training for his bout against junior welterweight Karim Mayfield.
With help from veteran promoter Tony Holden of Miami, Okla., the George-Stevenson fight became the main event for this week’s season finale of Friday Night Fights at Buffalo Run.
Still, there was another change.
Stevenson injured his left hand while sparring last Friday and was forced to pull out of this week’s fight on the advice of his doctor.
As a result, George (22-2-1, 19 KOs) from Chicago will now face Dionisio Miranda (21-7-2, 15 KOs), a native of Colombia, in a 10-round super middleweight bout.
The new main event is a 10-round junior middleweight bout between Carlos Molina (19-5-2, 6 KOs) of Chicago and Damian Frias (19-4-1, 10 KOs) of Miami, Fla. It was originally scheduled as the co-feature with George-Stevenson.
Warriors Boxing, Group Yvon Michel and Tony Holden Productions are the presenters for the card. Fights start at 8 p.m., and the television broadcast begins at 9 on ESPN2, ESPN Deportes and ESPN3.
Tickets are available for $35, $45 and $65 and can be purchased online at www.buffalorun.com or by calling the casino box office, 918-542-7140, ext. 2200.
