Galena runs past Osage City; Titans fall at Louisburg

OSAGE CITY, Kan. — Galena ran out to a 26-7 halftime lead Saturday and went on to upend Osage City 46-21 in the second round of the Class 3A state football playoffs.

Troy Albright, a 6-foot-1, 200-pound running back, scored three touchdowns on runs of 4, 2 and 2 yards for the Bulldogs, who went to 11-0 and will play host to Rossville in the next round on Friday. Rossville defeated Riley County 42-36 Saturday.

Galena quarterback Jacoby Martin completed 7 of 13 passes for 113 yards. He had an 11-yard strike to Colton Leet. Martin also collected two more touchdowns on runs of 1 and 8 yards.

Trenton Little scored on an 11-yard run for Galena’s only other TD.

Louisburg 26, Columbus 0

LOUISBURG, Kan. — Louisburg slammed the door shut on Columbus’ fooball season with a 26-0 Class 4A second-round state playoff victory.

Columbus, which ended its season at 8-3, trailed 6-0 at halftime.

“It was a back-and-forth game and it was a tough way to go out,” said Columbus coach Dan Grundy. “It was a real defensive battle and our kids played extremely hard even though the score might not have showed it.”

Terry Haevert sparked Louisburg (10-1) with a 17-yard TD pass from Drew Harding and Haevert also scored on defense, intercepting a pass and running it 26 yards for a second TD.
