MANHATTAN, Kan. — Kansas State, with two players scoring 20 points apiece, toppled the Pittsburg State women 89-61 to end the Gorillas’ exhibition basketball schedule.
Ashley Sweat and Kari Kincaid poured in 20 points each to spark the Wildcats, who led 43-30 at halftime.
Pittsburg State senior Nicole McCombs was nearly perfect in shooting 4-for-4 in field goals and 4-for-5 from the free-throw line. She led the Gorillas with 12 points.
The only other Pittsburg State player to score in double figures was freshman Drew Roberts with 11.
The Gorillas were plagued with 25 turnovers, compared to 16 for the host.
“We took a step back from where we were when we played Nebraska,” Gorillas head coach Lane Lord said in a press release. “We played great competition in these three exhibition games.”
Pittsburg State opens its regular season Sunday by hosting Central Oklahoma at 3 p.m.. The first 300 students at the game will get a free meal of a hamburger and chips.
