SHAWNEE, Okla. —
Northeastern Oklahoma A&M’s basketball teams fell one game short of reaching the national tournament when they lost semifinal games Friday night in the Region 2 Tournament at Oklahoma Baptist University’s Noble Complex.
The Lady Norse shot only 26 percent and bowed to Murray State 51-42. NEO trailed 26-15 at halftime after making 6-of-26 field goals and 1-of-7 free throws.
Freshman guard DeVaughn Gray scored 10 points to lead NEO (21-9).
Ines Kerin and Ivana Jakubcova scored 14 points each to pace the Lady Aggies
Eastern State’s men popped in 13 3-point goals in the first half and rolled past the Golden Norsemen 92-68.
Eastern State led 55-30 at the intermission, and NEO never got closer than 13 points in the second half.
Frederico Santos scored 20 points and grabbed 14 rebounds — his school record-setting 24th double-double this season — for NEO (18-14). Ja’Mill Powell and Jeff Newberry contributed 14 and 12 points, respectively, for the Norsemen.
Alfonzie Wilson hit four treys in the first half and finished with 23 points to lead Eastern State, and Xavier Calloway had 19.
