Track and field roundup: Carthage takes fourth in district

BRANSON, Mo. — Ozark won the boys’ division and Parkview won the girls’ team title Saturday in the Class 4, District 6 track meet at Branson.

Carthage’s girls placed fourth, followed by Webb City in fifth and eighth-place Neosho.

Joplin’s Marley Robeson won the 300-meter hurdles and was third in the 100 hurdles behind winner Sammi White of Webb City and runnerup Tiffany Gilford of Neosho.

Joplin and Carthage advanced to the sectional meet in the 4x200 relay.

White, who won the long jump, was third behind Sierra Barrett and Kim Teed of Carthage in the triple jump.

Webb City also qualified Morgan Davidson in the 100 and Desirea Buerge in the shot put and discus. Emily Goeken of Carthage advanced in the shot put and discus.

Neosho’s Kylee Hulsey placed second in the high jump.

In the boys’ division, sectional qualifiers included Carthage’s Cameron Priester and Jordan Dangerfield in the 100, Ben Southwick in the 800, the 4x100, 4x400 and 4x800 relays, E.J. Morgan in the long jump and triple jump, Kennan Harrison in the triple jump, and Bryan Burns in the shot put and discus.

Webb City’s Kiante Hardin advanced in the 400 as did Logan Williams in the 110 and 300 hurdles, Jordan St. Clair in the 110 hurdles, the 4x200 and 4x400 relays, and Alec Harmell in the pole vault.

Neosho’s Isaac McMaster qualified in the 300 hurdles along with Neosho’s 4x100 and 4x200 relays, Logan Davidson and Darrian Guillory in the high jump, and Justin McKee in the long jump.

Class 1 sectional

FAIR GROVE — McAuley’s Victoria Foley has the opportunity to defend her state championship in the discus by winning the event at the Class 1, Sectional 2 meet on Saturday.

Foley, a senior, won the discus with a distance of 118-3. She also qualified in the shot put for next week’s state meet in Jefferson City by winning the event with a distance of 36-1.

On the boys’ side, McAuley’s Coley Lowry won the long jump with a leap of 20-11. Lowry also qualified for state in the 100 meters by placing fourth with a time of 11.6.

McAuley’s 4x200-meter relay team of Anthony Bertoncino, Greg Carney, Lowry and Shaw Robertson qualified by finishing third in 1:37.37. The same four qualified with a second-place in the 4x100, finishing in 46.27.

Thomas Jefferson’s Chris Saladin qualified for state in the 3,200 meters. He took third place in 10:36.1.
