MIAMI, Okla. —
Crowder College used a three-run third inning to drop Northeastern A&M 5-4 on Tuesday at Homa Thomas Field.
The No. 6 Roughriders baseball team improved to 18-3, while the No. 9 Golden Norsemen fell to 13-5.
Crowder grabbed the lead with a run in the top of the first off NEO’s Keaton Hernandez. Cody Althouse walked, went to second on a fielder’s choice by Chris Scroggins and scored on an RBI double by Tony Sandifer.
Sandifer singled to start the three-run top of the third for the Roughriders. Consecutive doubles by Matt Burgess and Ty White created a 3-0 Crowder cushion. After Ryan Lazo reached on a bunt single, Althouse singled to score White for the 4-0 lead.
Singles by Hector Candelaria and Alex Wise started a two-run rally for the Norsemen in the bottom of the third inning. Ramon Laureano doubled to right-center to score both Candelaria and Wise. Crowder added a run in the top of the seventh with a walk by Samuel May, a wild pitch and a single by Althouse.
NEO attempted a rally in the bottom of the ninth as Candelaria singled to left and Wise hit a two-run homer. Sandifer led the Roughriders with a 4-for-5 performance at the plate.
