Carthage defeats Joplin, Webb City, Neosho in quadrangular

Carl Junction places third at Briarbrook

Carthage bested Joplin by three strokes in claiming an opening quadrangular in prep golf at Twin Hills Golf and Country Club on Monday.

The Tigers had 176 to the Eagles’ 179. Webb City, which had the medalist in Colton Craig with a 40, and Neosho followed with 193 and 197, respectively.

Carthage’s Carson Trent and Joplin’s Nick Yuhas shot 5-over-par 41s over the front nine to trail Craig.

Derrick Catron and Logan Jones each had 44s for Carthage to support Trent. Neosho’s Austin Clemons shot 48.

Said Joplin coach Jack Pace: “Several of the players were disappointed with their scores. But the conditions were horrible. It was windy, cold and wet.”

Joplin journeys to Carthage today to face the Tigers and Webb City at 3:45 p.m.

CARL JUNCTION TAKES THIRD PLACE

CARL JUNCTION, Mo. — Josh Fronabarger and Grant Seifried both shot a 39 and led Aurora to the championship of a quadrangular at Briarbrook Golf Course.

Aurora shot a 178 for nine holes and won a tie-breaker against Mount Vernon, which was led by Devin Brown’s 38. Carl Junction was third, and Monett was fourth.
