Carl Junction, Webb City prevail in Steve Lael Classic

ROGERSVILLE, Mo. — Justin Hylton pitched a two-hitter as Carl Junction defeated Rogersville 11-2 Tuesday in the Branson Steve Lael Classic.

Hylton walked four and struck out three in seven innings.

Nate Landis had two hits and three RBI for the Bulldogs. Kurtlin Hulette had three hits, including a double, and Zach Beyer had two hits and two RBI.

Carl Junction (1-2) will play at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Republic.

On Monday night in the classic, Nixa rapped 18 hits in an 11-5 victory over the Bulldogs.

The Eagles received four hits apiece from Scott Minehardt and Tristan Ridenour.

Tyler Armentrout had two hits and Beyer two RBI for Carl Junction.

Webb City 4, Republic 2

REPUBLIC, Mo. — Cade Crouch pitched a three-hitter as Webb City defeated Republic in the Branson Steve Lael Classic.

Crouch walked three and struck out nine.

The Cardinals scored the go-ahead run in the sixth inning on Austin Carter’s sacrifice fly.

Webb City took a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning. Kyle Baldasarre, who had two hits and drove in a run, led off the inning with a double. Colton Potts’ single to right scored courtesy runner Colson Crane, and Potts later scored on a single by Davison.

Webb City (2-2) will play at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Nixa.

Soccer

Carl Junction 8, Webb City 0

CARL JUNCTION, Mo. — Callie Degani scored three goals as Carl Junction defeated Webb City.

Degani scored the first two goals as Carl Junction took a 2-0 lead. Anissa Williams and Taylor Beck then scored in a three-minute span, and Carl Junction took a 4-0 halftime lead.

Beck, Solberg, Williams and Degani all scored in the second half. Solberg and Williams each had three assists.

Carl Junction, 1-1, will play at 5 p.m. Friday at Branson.

Golf

Carthage prevails

CARTHAGE, Mo. — Carthage shot a 166 and won a triangular at Carthage Golf Course.

Carson Trent led the Tigers with a 36 and teammate Derrick Catron shot a 39.

Joplin was second with a 171 and Webb City was third at 187. Nick Yuhas led Joplin with a 39 and Colton Craig paced Webb City with a 40.

All three teams will play again at 3:30 p.m. today at Briarbrook Golf Course.
