Yuhas, Eagles prevail in difficult conditions

— Only seven strokes separated the teams as Joplin prevailed in a triangular golf match on a cold, wet Wednesday afternoon at Briarbrook Golf Course.

The Eagles posted a four-player total of 176, followed by Webb City 181 and Carthage 183.

Joplin senior Nick Yuhas captured medalist honors with a 2-over-par 38 on the front nine. Austin Garritson shot a 41.

Colton Craig carded a 40 and Alec Goswick shot 44  for Webb City.

Carthage’s Carson Trent shot a 42, and three players had 47s.

Webb City and Carl Junction play their annual Papa John’s match play tournament on Friday at Briarbrook.

The two schools then co-host the Bird Dog Invitational on Monday, starting at 9 a.m.

Joplin and Carthage return to action Monday in the Bird Dog Invitational.
