Lebanon rallied in the fourth quarter and trimmed Joplin 57-52 Tuesday night in an Ozark Conference prep girls basketball game at Kaminsky Gymnasium.
The Eagles (4-13, 0-5 Ozark) owned leads of 30-23 at halftime and 41-34 after three quarters, but the Yellowjackets outscored JHS 23-11 in the final eight minutes.
Rebekah Tabb poured in 29 points for Lebanon, including 6-of-6 free throws in the fourth stanza.
Jessie McMullen tallied 18 points — seven in the third quarter — to pace the Eagles, and Tylan Martin chipped in with 11 points.
Joplin plays another conference game Thursday night at Kickapoo.
Hillcrest boys 55, Joplin 46
Springfield Hillcrest outlasted Joplin in an Ozark Conference game at Hillcrest.
Hillcrest, which led 24-16 at halftime, was led by senior guard Byron Williams, who scored 15 points.
“We have to come back and put four quarters together,” said Joplin head coach Jeff Williams. “Turnovers and rebounding, we didn’t take care of the ball at crucial times.
“We want that joyful feeling again in the lockerroom. We’ve had a little dry spell. I want them to get that feeling again.”
Charlie Brown led Joplin with 13 points. Adam St. Peter had 12 points for the Eagles and Sam Williams scored 11.
Joplin returns home to face Kickapoo at 5:30 p.m. Friday night in a conference matchup.
Willard boys 67, Webb City 49
WILLARD, Mo. — An aggressive Willard whipped visiting Webb City in a COC Conference Large Division game.
The Tigers outshot Webb City 31-7 from the free-throw line.
“We did some good things, we just have to attack the basket more,” said Webb City coach David Sherer. “We took some risks in the fourth quarter trying to get back in the game.”
Tim Huskisson, who has committed to Northern Colorado, led the Tigers with 18 points and Kyle Raby scored 16. Maddy Johnson had 16, including the only 3-point goals, for Webb City, and Kohl Slaughter had eight rebounds.
The Cardinals, 13-8 overall and 1-2 in the COC, entertain Ozark tonight.
Greenfield girls 36, College Heights Christian 24
Visiting Greenfield clamped down on defense and whipped the Cougars in a Spring River Valley Conference game.
Andrea Mason scored 19 points for the Wildcats, who led 13-9 at halftime. Konner McIntire’s nine led the Cougars, 8-10 overall and 0-4 in the league.
CHC entertains Miller on Thursday.
Thomas Jefferson boys 53, Exeter 36
Justin Brown scored 15 points and blocked five shots as Thomas Jefferson defeated Exeter in an Ozark 7 Conference game at Thomas Jefferson.
Alex Oserowsky had 14 points and Jake Hockman had five assists for Thomas Jefferson, which improved to 7-9 overall and 3-4 in the conference.
Kong Lee sank a pair of 3-pointers and led Exeter with 14 points.
Exeter girls 53, Thomas Jefferson 18
Destani Stensrud scored 20 points and led Exeter past Thomas Jefferson in an Ozark 7 Conference matchup.
Devin Boyke sank three 3-pointers and had 13 points for Exeter, which led 32-12 at halftime. Shelby Smallwood led Thomas Jefferson with 11 points.
Thomas Jefferson, 3-12, resumes conference play at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Southwest.
Greenfield boys 50, College Heights 38
A strong fourth quarter — a 13-2 scoring advantage — carried the visiting Wildcats past College Heights Christian in the Spring River Valley Conference contest.
Dustin Preston had 21 points for Greenfield. The Wildcats, who led 32-18 at the half, were outscored 18-5 by the Cougars in the third period.
CHC got 14 points from Matt Wicklund and 10 from Zach Wilkins.
The Cougars didn’t attempt a free throw during the game. They were without senior guard Patton Conroy because of sickness.
Carl Junction boys 63, Lamar 57
LAMAR, Mo. — The Bulldogs hiked their Big 8 Conference record to 4-0 with the win on Monday night.
Travis Vogt, a 5-11 sophomore, scored 21 points to pace Carl Junction (9-10 overall). Jake McClarnon, a 6-2 senior, had 14 and 5-10 junior Payton Walker had three 3s in adding 12.
Lamar, which trailed 39-19 at the half, received 17 points from freshman guard Jared Beshore.
